HC Deb 13 February 1984 vol 54 cc37-8W
Mr. Bowen Wells

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, further to the answer of 27 January, Official Report, c. 709, to the hon. Member for Newport, West (Mr. Robinson), if he will specify the percentage of the International Development Association's supplementary budget to be paid by the United Kingdom.

Mr. Raison

The IDA management has been given a mandate to seek supplementary funding for the seventh replenishment of IDA of up to $3 billion (including a US contribution). Should that figure be achieved, and assuming a share of up to 6.7 per cent., the United Kingdom contribution to the supplementary fund could be up to $201 million (£134 million). Consultations about the size, form and burden-sharing arrangements are still at an early stage.
