HC Deb 10 February 1984 vol 53 c819W
Mr. Proctor

asked the Secretary of State for Energy if he will estimate the effects of the increased price of heavy fuel oil on capital-intensive industries; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Buchanan-Smith

The recent increase in the schedule price of heavy fuel oil may increase the operating costs of energy-intensive industries by up to 1 per cent. Oil product prices are a commercial matter for the suppliers. Last month's move reflected the increase in crude oil costs caused by the strength of the dollar as well as seasonal factors.
