HC Deb 10 February 1984 vol 53 c830W
Mr. Sackville

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied that the present arrangements for the supply of domiciliary oxygen are cost-effective.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

We are currently seeking to appoint a firm of consultants to examine the present arrangements for the supply of domiciliary oxygen under the NHS, to analyse the cost effectiveness of alternative supply arrangements and to give advice to Ministers. In assessing costs and making recommendations, the consultants will be asked to take into account the likely effect of the introduction of oxygen concentrators to the service on the costs of both the current and any suggested alternative supply arrangements.
