Friend the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry is the sponsor Minister for the United Kingdom steel industry and for the activities of the British Steel Corporation. Because of his responsibility for employment and economic matters generally in Scotland my right hon. Friend has a strong interest in the industry's affairs. In this he is advised by officials of the Industry Department for Scotland (formerly the Scottish Economic Planning Department).
