HC Deb 09 February 1984 vol 53 c734W
Mr. Forsyth

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what use the Treasury makes of the services of private security firms and the Post Office for the handling of confidential material; and whether there has been an experience of such material being leaked.

Mr. Hayhoe

The handling and transmission of classified material is governed by confidential guidance issued to all Government Departments. It would not be appropriate to give details relating to that guidance. However, there is no evidence that any security leaks have occurred through the use of private security firms or the Post Office for the transmission of Treasury mail.
