§ Mr. Michael Forsythasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what progress the Board of Inland Revenue is making in its proposals to privatise the sorting of individual revenue papers and tax files.
§ Mr. MooreThe Inland Revenue is carrying out a feasibility study to see whether it might be more cost effective to contract out the work of the sorting centre at Kew which handles all inter-office post. Tenders from reputable contractors are now being examined. The Department is also reviewing the working arrangements in the present centre to see whether, with improved efficiency, a case can be made for retaining the work within the Department.
