§ Mr. David MitchellSince 1979, the following ports outside assisted areas in England have received grant from the Government:
- Felixstowe—under section 8 of the Railways Act 1974.
- London — under the Port of London (Financial Assistance) Act 1980 and the Ports (Financial Assistance) Act 1981.
- Hastings, Langstone, Lowestoft, Ramsgate, Sheringham and Whitstable—under section 2 of the Fisheries Act 1955.
No port authorities outside assisted areas have received grant from the European Community.

Amble Liverpool Bideford Penzance Blyth Plymouth Eastham Runcorn Ellesmere Port Salcombe Falmouth Scarborough Fleetwood Seaham Garston Sunderland Goole Tees Grimsby Tyne Hartlepool Whitby Hull Whitehaven Immingham Workington Garston has also received Exchequer grant under section 8 of the Railways Act 1974. The Mersey Docks and Harbour Company has received grant under the Ports (Financial Assistance) Act 1981.
In addition, the following ports in England have received grants under section 2 of the Fisheries Act 1955:
