Mr. Leighton

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he is satisfied with the present relationship of the Council for National Academic Awards and the National Advisory Body on Further and Higher Education in the light of difficulties that have occurred with regard to the supply of academic assessments by the former to the latter, and the need for the former to retain the confidence of institutions in its academic independence.

My right hon. Friend believes that the basis for a constructive relationship between the two bodies has been achieved, and looks forward to its further development.
