§ Sir George YoungUnder the support lending scheme totalling £350 million in 1983–84 the building societies set aside mortgage funds for lending to borrowers nominated to them by local authorities. My right hon. Friend has issued guidance to local authorities on the categories of 461W borrower to whom priority should be given under this scheme. People on local authority waiting lists are specifically included in the priority categories.
