HC Deb 06 February 1984 vol 53 c442W
15. Mr. Dormand

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what further action he proposes to take to encourage local authorities to improve facilities for cyclists.

Mrs. Chalker

This year's transport policies and programme submissions show that almost all county councils are considering the needs of cyclists and providing facilities for them. I recently announced a programme of large-scale urban cycle schemes.

55. Mr. Coombs

asked the Secretary of State for Transport how many local authorities have established cycling schemes since the publication of the Government's cycling policy paper.

Mrs. Chalker

Comrehensive information is available centrally only for those innovatory schemes which the Department is supporting financially. They were listed in my reply to the hon. Member for Vauxhall (Mr. Holland) on 22 November, [Vol. 49, c.154–5.]
