HC Deb 02 February 1984 vol 53 c343W
Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether the basis of calculation of the charges to pay bed patients has changed since 1979; and if so, how.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

No.

Mr. Dobson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will set out the factors taken into account in deciding on the charges to pay bed patients set out in health circular HC(83)7.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The factors taken into account in determining charges to private resident patients in 1983–84 were the estimated average costs of an inpatient day for hospitals in each class for 1983–84, administration and capital costs, and, where appropriate, an addition for the use of a single room.
