Mr. William Shelton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will give estimates for the building and the annual running costs of the proposed extension (phase 2A) for St. George's hospital in the Wandsworth health authority, including all fees, and the date that these costs were prepared.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The building and engineering budget cost for phase 2A of St. George's, approved by our Department in March 1983, at current cost levels is £16.9 million; the estimated total cost of fees is £2.6 million. The revenue costs are calculated to be £13.7 million at March 1982 price levels.
