HC Deb 01 February 1984 vol 53 c211W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department, after serving approximately what proportion of their sentences, category A and category B prisoners, respectively, are normally reviewed for the purposes of decategorisation.

Mr. Hurd

The decision to place a prisoner in category A is normally reviewed at intervals of 12 months. There is no set time scale for reviewing the classification of category B prisoners, but this is generally done after one third of the sentence, and annually thereafter.
