HC Deb 21 December 1984 vol 70 cc421-2W
Mr. Yeo

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what consultations are planned on the details of the proposed extension of statutory sick pay from eight to 28 weeks.

Mrs. Currie

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what consultations are planned on the details of the proposed extension of statutory sick pay from eight to 28 weeks.

Mr. Newton

The Department has issued a consultation paper seeking views on these proposals. Copies of the paper have been sent to the Confederation of British Industry, Trades Union Congress, British Medical Association and other interested organisations, including those representing the interests of disabled people. Comments have been requested by the end of January 1985. I am arranging for copies of the paper to be sent to Standing Committee members serving on the Social Security Bill and for a copy to be placed in the Library of both Houses.
