HC Deb 21 December 1984 vol 70 c424W
Mrs. Beckett

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services on what subjects the social security policy inspectorate has undertaken inquiries but not yet finalised its reports; and on what date each of these inquiries commenced.

Mr. Newton

[pursuant to his reply, 3 December 1984, c.80]: The social security policy inspectorate has a continuing programme of work, which results in advice to Ministers and Departmental management on a wide range of issues in social security policy and administration. At the present time it has a number of separate studies in progress, including studies into single payments for furniture; national insurance and the self-employed; family income supplement; and statutory sick pay.
