§ Mr. Beggsasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) if he will list the self-help or community groups in Northern Ireland which are receiving public funding and the amount of financial assistance given to each over the last five years for which records are available;
(2) if each self-help or community group receiving public funding is subject to supervision by Government officials; and if reports are available on the achievements of self-help or community groups indicating the value for money which has been allocated to date;
(3) if financial assistance will continue to be made to self-help or community groups in future.
§ Dr. BoysonInformation needed to list self help or community groups and their funding is not readily available and could only be obtained at disproportionate cost. The degree of supervision of these groups varies depending on the purpose for which funds are made available, the nature and experience of the groups involved and the extent of the funding. Groups provide annual reports where appropriate. Financial assistance will continue to be given to self-help and community groups.
