§ Mr. Barry Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list in the Official Report the names, occupations and political affiliations where known of those people he has appointed to all the statutory bodies and the principal committees answerable to and appointed by him, giving salaries and payments where relevant.
§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsDetails of the numbers of people appointed solely by me to executive bodies, advisory bodies and health authorities in Wales and to the Board of the Welsh water authority are included in "Public Bodies 1984" published by HMSO on 18 December 1984. The publication includes details of remuneration where appropriate.
I will write to the hon. Gentleman with details of the names of those appointed and will place a copy of my letter in the Library. Information about appointees occupations could only be provided at disproportionate cost. My Department does not keep a record of appointees political affiliations. In making appointments it is my policy to select the best person for the job bearing in mind all factors relevant to the post.
§ Mr. Gareth Wardellasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the names of individuals that he has appointed to public bodies in Wales during the past year, together with individuals appointed to public bodies in Wales which he has (a) made jointly with other Ministers and (b) has been consulted about.
