§ Mr. Peter Bruinvelsasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) what proportion of urban roads in the Province are lit; and by what form of electric lighting;
(2) what proportion of group A roads in Northern Ireland are lit; and by what form of electric lighting.
§ Mr. Chris Patten[pursuant to his reply, 19 December 1984, c. 213]: It is estimated that over 90 per cent. of urban roads are lit.
The classification "Group A" is not employed in relation to roads in Northern Ireland; of the class I category roads, it is estimated that 20 per cent. are lit.
High pressure sodium, low pressure sodium, high pressure mercury and fluorescent lanterns are used.
