§ Mr. Dewarasked the Secretary of State for Scotland when the rate of pay for work done by prisoners was last reviewed; what plans he has for an uprating; and whether the current rates of pay take account of cost increases in the range of goods available for purchase by prisoners.
§ Mr. YoungerThe rate of pay is reviewed annually, the most recent increase having been made in October. Adjustments now take account of the average increase in public sector pay rather than price movements in the range of goods available for purchase by prisoners.
