asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what plans he has to ensure that citizens band channel 9 is used solely as an emergency channel.

Earlier this year the CB licence was amended to draw attention to the code of practice recommendation that channel 9 should be used for emergencies and assistance only. I am not convinced that any further measures at present are justified.
