Prosecuting Solicitors Departments

Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list all the county police force areas without a prosecuting solicitors department.

Mr. Mellor

Wiltshire is in the process of establishing a prosecuting solicitors' department. The remaining police areas without prosecuting solicitors' departments are Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, north Yorkshire, Staffordshire and Surrey.

Mr. Peter Bruinvels

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department when the management consultants are likely to report on their study of various prosecuting solicitors departments.

Mr. Mellor

My right hon. and learned Friend expects to receive the report early next year.
