Industrial Demand and Output

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will make a statement on the level of industrial demand and output.

Mr. Lawson

Total industrial production in the three months to October was down 1 per cent. on a year earlier. This reflects a 9¾ per cent. fall in energy output, affected by the coal strike, and a 2¾ per cent. rise in manufacturing.
