§ Sir George YoungFrom 12 August 1981 (the date of designation of the zone) to 31 May 1983, the consultants who surveyed the zones on behalf of the Department found that 54 firms and 730 jobs had been established in the Trafford park enterprise zone. By 31 December 1983 the consultants estimated that a further 152 jobs had been added. No distinction was made between jobs in the private sector and other sectors. As to the cost per job, I refer to my answer to the right hon. and learned Member for Monklands, East (Mr. Smith) on 6 December, at column 238.
