HC Deb 11 December 1984 vol 69 cc448-9W
Mr. Weetch

asked the Secretary of State for Employment what is his current policy in respect of the national dock labour scheme; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Alan Clark

I refer the hon. Member to the statements made in July that the Government have no plans to change or abolish the national dock labour scheme.

Mr. Weetch

asked the Secretary of State for Employment when he next proposes to meet representatives of the Transport and General Workers Union to discuss the implications for the national dock labour scheme of the proposed Felixstowe Dock and Railway Bill.

Mr. Alan Clark

My right hon. Friend has no plans at present to discuss with the Transport and General Workers Union any views it may have on this matter, and no invitation to do so has been received from it.
