HC Deb 11 December 1984 vol 69 c427W
28. Mr. Baldry

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether Her Majesty's Government will consider with other North Atlantic Treaty Organisation countries the establishment of a separate Allied Command Europe mobile force to defend the European southern flank.

Mr. Stanley

My right hon. Friend has no plans to do so. NATO plans for the defence of the area involve the deployment of dedicated reinforcements, largely American. The existing Allied Command Europe mobile force also has deployment options on the southern flank.
