§ Mr. David Youngasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will take steps to encourage the development of a code of practice concerning the labelling of dishes in restaurants and hotels to ensure that dishes consisting wholly or mainly of processed ingredients are not described on menus as fresh.
§ Mr. ButcherI am not aware of any significant volume of complaint on this matter, but if the hon. Member has evidence of damage to the interests of consumers arising from inaccuracies on menus I shall be glad to draw it to the attention of the Director General of Fair Trading.
