HC Deb 10 December 1984 vol 69 c353W
35. Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State answering in respect of the Arts, in the event of the abolition of the Greater London council what plans the Minister for the Arts has for the continuation of Thames day, south bank weekend, and the open foyer policy at the Royal Festival Hall.

Mr. Waldegrave

The London borough councils will be free to organise events such as Thames day and the south bank weekend after the abolition of the GLC. The consent of the Arts Council would be required for the use of the South Bank complex for these events. The future of the "open foyer" policy at the Royal Festival Hall will be a matter for the Arts Council.
