§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services why he has not agreed to bring topical fluoride applications within the scope of the general dental service for children with special medical needs.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeWe have not been able to agree with the British Dental Association on arrangements for including this item in the general dental service scale of fees.
§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what resources he will be making available for the purpose of promoting further studies into capitation for dental services.
§ Mr. Kenneth ClarkeWe are making up to £120,000 available for a one year pilot study of capitation which began on 1 October. In the light of the results of the pilot study, we shall decide whether a longer and larger study should be commissioned but no costings for this are yet available.
