Mr. Ralph Howell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the maximum permitted board and lodging charge for a single person, not included in the categories of people mentally ill or people in nursing homes applied by his Department's local offices in Norwich (both offices), Yarmouth; Diss; Highgate, London; Finsbury Park, London; and Surbiton, Surrey, in 1983.

The maximum limit on the amount of supplementary benefit normally payable to a single person, other than in a residential or nursing home, in 1983 to meet the charge for full board and lodging accommodation in the area of each of the offices concerned was as follows:
