HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 cc17-8W
Mr. Wareing

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he has any plans to seek powers to tax lump sum superannuation benefits; what representations he has received on the subject; how many have been favourable and how many unfavourable; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Moore

[pursuant to his reply, 30 November 1984; c. 606]: As to our intentions, I refer the hon. Member to my reply of 12 November 1984 at column 90. To date about 300 letters have been received, in addition to representations from various trade associations and representative bodies. Almost all have expressed opposition to such a change.
