HC Deb 03 December 1984 vol 69 c1W
Mr. Nicholas Brown

asked the Attorney-General how many attendances at petty sessions there were by each magistrate for the city of Newcastle upon Tyne for the last year.

The Solicitor-General

The information required cannot be provided except at disproportionate cost, but I will see that the hon. Member receives the latest available figures for the 12 month period ending 30 September 1984.

Mr. Nicholas Brown

asked the Attorney-General what was, for each of the last three years, the number of magistrates for the city of Newcastle upon Tyne who have attended fewer than 26 petty sessions, together with the number who have attended fewer than 26 sessions per year for more than one year.

The Solicitor-General

1980–81, 52; 1981–82, 23; 1982–83, 40. Twenty-four attended fewer than 26 times per year for more than one year. These figures include justices newly appointed or who resigned or retired within the periods, and those who suffered ill-health or were granted leave of absence.
