§ Mr. Bowen Wellsasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will support an application by British Aerospace for assistance under the trade and aid provisions to enable Leeward Islands Air Transport to purchase the Super 748s it wants rather than the French aircraft insisted upon by the European Economic Community.
§ Mr. ChannonIt would not be appropriate to provide assistance to BAe under the aid and trade provision while discussions between Leeward Islands Air Transport and the EC Commission are continuing. The Government are keeping a close watch on the position.
