HL Deb 01 August 1984 vol 455 cc868-9WA
Lord Stoddart of Swindon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What amendments they intend to make to the Ordnance Factories and Military Services Bill in the light of the Second Report from the Commons Defence Committee on the Physical Security of Military Installations in the United Kingdom (H.C. 397).

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces (Lord Trefgarne)

The Government are considering the Second Report and will be responding in due course. The Ordnance Factories and Military Services Bill was amended during its passage through the House of Commons to enable the Ministry of Defence Police to remain at the Ordnance factories after vesting day with their existing powers. In making this amendment, the Government took account of the preliminary views expressed by the Commons Defence Committee. No further legislative provision is considered necessary, although additional measures are being taken to improve physical security at certain ROF sites.
