§ Mr.McNamaraasked the Secretary of State for Defence what financial and other assistance, and for what specific purposes, he is giving to Operation Raleigh.
§ Mr. LeeAn Army officer is to be loaned to the sponsors to direct Operation Raleigh for four years from November 1984. During this period the sponsors will pay his salary. In addition, service personnel may take part in the operation's expeditions where this is justified as adventurous training; RAF transport may be used where spare capacity exists on flights already scheduled for other reasons to relevant destinations; and service equipment may be provided on normal repayment terms.
