HL Deb 30 April 1984 vol 451 c456WA
Lord Renton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the Royal Society for Mentally Handicapped Children and Adults will be one of the voluntary agencies who will be consulted, when plans for implementing the policy for helping the adult unemployed are being formulated, in order to make use of the valuable experience gained by the society through its Pathway Scheme for the employment of mentally handicapped people.

The Minister of State, Privy Council Office, and Minister for the Arts (The Earl of Gowrie)

The Government's plans for training unemployed adults announced in the recent White PaperTraining for Jobs (Cmnd. 9135) followed extensive consultations with many organisations, including voluntary agencies. Such bodies may be involved where appropriate in the implementation of these plans, but there will be no further general consultation.
