HC Deb 30 April 1984 vol 59 c38W
Mr.Alfred Morris

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what further consideration his Department is giving to the use of Baguley hall, Manchester; what recent consultation there has been with Manchester city council about the use of the hall; and if he will make a statement.

Mr.Macfarlane

Baguley Hall is a 14th century scheduled monument acquired by the Secretary of State in 1969. It has not been possible to reach agreement on its future use with Manchester city council. From 1 April 1984 management responsibility for this important building passed to the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission which plans to complete its restoration and open it to the public.
