Mr. Corbyn

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list the number and dates of visits by accredited British military attaches to Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador during the last 12 months.

Mr. Whitney

The British military attaché at Mexico City, who is accredited to Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador, made the following visits to those countries in the period 1 April 1983 to 31 March 1984:

Nicaragua

  • 14–18 June 1983
  • 18–22 July 1983
  • 6–11 November 1983
  • 15–20 January 1984
  • 4–10 March 1984

Honduras

  • 21–23 April 1983
  • 2– 8 June 1983
  • 10–18 July 1983
  • 16–24 October 1983
  • 15–19 November 1983
  • 10–13 December 1983

El Salvador

  • 26 May–2 June 1983
  • 14–19 August 1983

The military attaché was accompanied by the defence attaché at Mexico City, who is similarly accredited, on visits to Honduras (16–24 October 1983) and El Salvador (24–29 October 1983).
