§ Mr. WhitneyA programme for enhancement of the Belize defence force, agreed when Belize became independent in 1981, is due to be completed by early 1986. Thirteen loan service personnel are engaged in the task: three) Royal Navy, eight Army and two (shortly to increase to three Royal Air Force. The British garrison also assists. No civilian personnel are involved.
