HC Deb 25 April 1984 vol 58 c547W
Mr. Wallace

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what progress has been made by each Scottish health board towards implementing the priorities outlined in the report by the Scottish health authorities on "Priorities for the Eighties."

Mr. John MacKay

My Department is monitoring the progress made by health boards towards implementing the recommendations of the report "Scottish Health Authorities Priorities for the Eighties". While each health board's response depends on its assessment of local needs and circumstances, all boards show in their planning a general concern to adopt the priorities recommended in the report.

Mr. Wallace

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland which health boards have now completed full consultations about the report by Scottish health authorities on "Priorities for the Eighties" with their local authorities and agreed on a strategy for implementing its recommendations.

Mr. John MacKay

Health boards were asked to consult relevant local interests when preparing statements outlining their proposed objectives for implementing the recommendations of the report "Scottish Health Authorities Priorities for the Eighties". These recommendations were primarily directed towards the development of health services. Boards were therefore not required to draw up an agreed strategy with the local authorities in their area; but in discussing priorities statements with health board officers my Department pays particular attention to their arrangements for collaborating with local authorities in planning and developing services.
