§ Mr. George Gardinerasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what steps he has taken to assist the building industry; which of these will be given statutory effect in the Finance Bill; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Moore[pursuant to his reply, 10 April 1984]: The overall effect on the construction sector of the Budget will be beneficial. The industry should stand to benefit particularly from the reduction in corporation tax, the reduction in stamp duty and, as a relatively labour intensive industry, the ending of the national insurance surcharge.
