§ Mr. Andrew F. Bennettasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many pupils, and what percentage, remained in full-time education after 16 anti after 17 years in each local authority in January 1983 and January 1984; and which of these authorities give educational maintenance awards.
§ Sir Keith Joseph[pursuant to his reply, 2 April 1984 c. 374]: The available data for 1982–83 are as follows. Equivalent figures for 1983–84 are not yet available.
Authorities marked with a star in the last column of the table did not indicate any expenditure on educational maintenance awards on their annual expenditure returns for the financial year 1982–83. However, it does not follow that these authorities have a policy of not awarding EMAs.
