HC Deb 09 April 1984 vol 58 cc102-3W
Mr. William Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many householders he expects to benefit in Northern Ireland from increased or new payments for rent and rate rebate as a result of the decision to withdraw payment of the £3.10 rent addition weekly for non-householder claimants of supplementary benefit in the 18 years to 20 years age group.

Mr. Chris Patten

Based on data obtained from the 1983 continuous household survey, adjusted to take account of the number of householders currently claiming housing benefits, it is estimated that approximately 6,200 householders in Northern Ireland will benefit from increased or new rent and/or rate rebates as a result of the change.
