HC Deb 09 April 1984 vol 58 c65W
Mr. Golding

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what changes he proposes to the General Development Orders 1977 to 1981 in respect of telecommunications and cable systems and satellite television aerials; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Macfarlane

The Government's proposals to amend the General Development Orders 1977 to 1981 were set out in a paper issued for public consultation on 23 January 1984. Copies are in the Library. In telecommunications and related fields, the proposals are intended to reflect the changing nature of the telecommunications and of the bodies likely to be undertaking telecommunications development in the future under the provisions of the Telecommunications Bill, and to avoid undue burdens on the development control system. We are currently considering the responses made on these and the many other proposals set out in the paper.
