§ Mr. Ernie Rossasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what are the average waiting times by surgical specialty for operations at (a) hospitals in Dundee and (b) Tayside Health Board; and what are the comparable figures for each of the past two years.
§ Mr. John MacKayThe latest available information relates to 1982. The information requested for that year and the previous two years is:
has been no radioactive contamination from the USS Sam Rayburn. My right hon. Friend has not been informed of such an occurrence in relation to any other US naval vessel anywhere off the Scottish coast over the period in question. The hon. Member may be referring to the recent paint sampling of the USS Sam Rayburn in the course of routine maintenance which we understand from the US authorities indicated areas of the submarine where very low levels of radioactivity were embedded in paint, as occurs from time to time. I understand that this arises in the normal course of operation and gives no cause for concern. The very low levels involved pose no environmental hazard.
