§ The Prime MinisterThe legislation and common law traditions relating to the fishing for salmon in England and Wales are not the same as those in Scotland and this had led to historic differences in the approach to salmon management. I am, however, satisfied with the present efforts to achieve closer co-ordination between the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretaries of State for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland on the conservation of salmon stocks in United Kingdom waters.
