Mr. Boyesasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will estimate the additional staff requirements of his Department's regional offices to handle the increased central Government controls envisaged in the White Paper on the abolition of the metropolitan county council and the Greater London council.
§ Mr. WaldegraveThe only increased central Government controls envisaged in the White Paper are the controls over the precepts and manpower or manpower expenditure of the joint boards for the first three financial years after abolition. No additional staff will be required in DOE regional offices to handle these controls.
