§ Mr. Altonasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the proposal to appoint head teachers in the coming week of the 27 schools affected by the reorganisation of secondary education in Liverpool, in advance of his decision in respect of the proposals.
§ Mr. DunnEducation authorities which publish proposals under section 12 of the Education Act 1980 are free to make contingency preparations for their implementation including the appointment of designated staff to newly proposed schools. Provided that any such designated appointments are made by Liverpool education authority dependent upon my right hon. Friend's decision on its proposals, such action would not breach the requirements of section 16(1) of the 1980 Act.
