The 30 September waiting list return began in 1975. Figures for area and regional health authorities for the years before the restructuring of the National Health Service in 1982 are given in the table. District figures for 30 September 1982 were given in my reply to the hon. Member on 8 November.—[Vol. 48, c.61–65.] Regional totals are attached.
The increase in regional totals between 1981 and 1982 reflects the consequences of industrial action in the Health Service last year.
