§ Mr. WaldegravePer capita expenditure on the arts in England, including central Government contributions, estimated local authority commitments and business sponsorship, was nearly £14 in 1982–83. No figures exist for spending by individuals. Corresponding figures for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are matters for the Secretaries of State concerned. Comparable figures for other European Community countries are not available.
