§ Mr. Adam Butler[pursuant to the reply, 4 November 1983, c. 478]: Within the resources available to them the education and library boards decide the priority accorded to the library service; in 1982–83 total expenditure on the library service was £574,000 (capital), and £10,583,000 (revenue); there were 1,010 staff in post on 31 March.
